Celebrating 90 Years of Scouting!

This year marks the 90th anniversary of the chartering of Longmont's Troop 66, Boy Scouts of America.  The Troop membership will be celebrating the occasion at its Court of Honor on the evening of August 17, 2015, 7pm, at Longmont Christian School, 1440 Collyer Street.  All members past and present are cordially invited to attend, along with members of the community and local press.  The program will include a pot luck dinner, addresses and presentations by past and present leaders and scouts, several skits enacted by Troop patrols, the honoring of current scouts with their latest merit and rank achievements, closing with refreshments and reminiscing.  The Troop would be especially honored to have past members, scouting professionals, and members of the community attend and share their history and experiences with the Troop.  Please RSVP online, or send email to fjfoss@gmail.com, or call (303) 502-7048.

Longmont Troop 66 was chartered in June of 1925, just 15 years after the incorporation of the Boy Scouts of America.  The Troop has thrived over the years, having helped shape the lives of countless young men including some 85 who became Eagle Scouts, the highest rank achievable in Boy Scouts.  The Troop has participated in at least two National Scout Jamborees as well as dozens of Longs Peak Council Camporees and Scout Shows.  It has been recognized with numerous national and local awards for quality and excellence throughout its venerable history, and continues to distinguish itself with active participation in and service to scouting and the community.
