The Boulder Luncheon Optimist club recently honored four local youth with the Optimist International “Youth Appreciation” award. This award honors youth that do volunteer work in their community and are recommended by their organizations for their superior work in doing so. The following youth were honored:

Toby Wong (age 10) volunteer for Tru Hospice Thrift Shop. Toby’s specialty was in the toys area of the shop. Toby was presented by Carol Thompson, director of the thrift shop. Carol mentioned that Toby was very enthusiastic about volunteering and the staff very much enjoyed his presence.

Haden Pelletier, 2018 Centaurus High graduate, a mentor for many students that are part of the “I Have a Dream” program. Haden was presented by Ashley Keltner, Director of Volunteers. Ashley mentioned that Haden was in high demand among the students for his personality and tremendous mentoring skills.

Lisa Hansen and Katia Hirasaki, Fairview High graduates and Presidents of the Fairview Interact Club, a community outreach club. Lisa and Katie were presented by Marty Bilkey, Boulder Luncheon Club president. Using funds provided by our club, Lisa & Katie went shopping each month to purchase items needed by local “Attention Homes” youth. They did a highly effective job in maximizing the available funds.
