BOULDER, CO – Boulder’s new Wilderness Early Learning Center will celebrate its Grand Opening on Sept. 15, along with a Fall Festival for kids and a Parent Resource Fair.  All community members are invited to attend, and there will be many fun activities for families with young children, including games and prizes, face painting, a bouncy castle, vendors and food.

The event will begin with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. at Wilderness Early Learning Center, located at 2845 Wilderness Place, and continue until 2 p.m. City and County public officials will be on hand to kick things off.

The grand opening will celebrate the creation of one of the most unique and comprehensive public/private partnerships for early learning in Boulder County.  With funding from Boulder County and the City of Boulder, private funding and local fundraising efforts, Wilderness Early Learning Center is a collaborative project with a wide array of early childhood services including: The Acorn School, Boulder County Head Start, The Tiny Tim Center, Kid Connects, The Wellness Initiative, University of Colorado Child Learning Center, Boulder Institute for Psychotherapy and Research, and the Boulder Public Library.  Together these partners bring services together for children birth through age six in a new facility in northeast Boulder.

Wilderness Early Learning Center is a place where all children will learn vital skills that will give them a great start in life as they enter kindergarten, ready to learn and succeed.

“Boulder County Head Start is excited to provide our comprehensive services closer for our North Boulder families. Having our existing human services partners readily available at Wilderness Early Learning Center will greatly support our shared goals of learning, family support and education, social-emotional and physical health,” said Maria C. Harper, Division Manager, Boulder County Head Start.
