Wounded Warrior/Outdoor Buddies

At the Green Mill Range, Saturday, Aug. 2, we had a beautiful day for the Wounded Warrior/Outdoor Buddies event.

About 25 great guys showed up for this semi-annual event sponsored by Green Mill Sportsman Club and Cabela’s.

We want to thank Nick Filler with Cabela’s and Andy Anderson of Andy’s Custom Guns and Training for donating some great door prizes to be shared with this great bunch of guys.

We also need to say thanks to our fantastic group of Green Mill volunteers - Don Pickett, Eddie Smith, Fred Greening, Earl Reed, Bruce Gambell, Joe Titus, Don Wilkerson, Mel Heaps and son Ryan. Also thanks to Butch Dolphin for making the range spic and span for everyone.

A very special thanks to Mark Neitro, of Channel 4 CBS News who videoed and did interviews for this special event. Mark you did a great job and believe me these guys enjoyed having you there.

Larry Sanford, Wally Hunt, and Richard Cori, Directors of Outdoor Buddies do a fabulous job of working with this great bunch of guys all year. They get their members out to hunt, fish and have family picnics with them. A very rewarding job for a group of special needs people.

Richard, Cori, and I (Pete Labella) work very hard to get this great event planned - thanks Richard.

Nick Filler, store manager from Cabela’s donated some absolutely fantastic door prizes. Thanks to Andy Anderson also for your generosity.

Green Mill Sportsman Club is located off Erie Parkway by the firehouse. It is open to the public from Labor Day to the first week in November for hunter sight-in.

The Outdoor Buddies is a non-profit organization and would appreciate any donations. If you would like to send donations, go to www.outdoorbuddies.org Thank You.

Outdoor Buddies just recently purchased two track chairs for their membership.

Well another wonderful year with two more WW/OB events that are just memories now.

We will soon be preparing for two more next year.

God Bless these men & woman, God Bless our military, & God Bless America.

“As a Green Mill member of 37 years I feel very privileged doing this event at our Green Mill Range,” Don Pickett, our VP said when interviewed by Channel 4 News, “there’s not a dry eye in this place.” You got that right Don.
