It's on like Celine Dion!
Opium’s Literary Death Match, co-created by
Opium’s founding editor, Todd Zuniga, Elizabeth Koch & Dennis DiClaudio, marries the literary and performative aspects of
Def Poetry Jam, rapier-witted quips of
American Idol’s judging (without the meanness), and the ridiculousness and hilarity of
Double Dare.Ripe for even more expansion, the series will descend on Denver April 11, 2009. The Rocky Mountain version will be hosted by
Opium’s own Todd Zuniga, and feature an assortment of award-winners and beyond, including
Daniel Grandbois (author of Unlucky Lucky Days),
Laura Pritchett (Hell’s Bottom, Colorado),
Kathy Fish (A Peculiar Feeling of Restlessness: Four Chapbooks of Short Short Fiction by Four Women) and judges David Hicks, Jody Reale and Shawn Hazelwood.
Event cost: $10, which gets you a copy of
Opium 7:7 for more information, please visit the
Literary Death Match Web site, and to follow the action live, join in on Twitter (
